The Computation of the Aberrations of Fringing Fields of Magnetic Multipoles and Sector Magnets Using Differential Algebra
AbstractDifferential algebraic (DA) methods are used for the computation of transfer matrices of
arbitrary order of the fringing fields of magnetic particle-optical elements. The
accuracy of the method is only limited by the numerical integrator for the equations of
motion. Comparisons are made to the method of fringing-field integrals, the results of which
are known to third order, and it is shown that the results of both methods agree well.
